French Market Success – The annual Sister Cities French Market was held on April 16 in conjunction with the Yorktown Farmers Market. At this event we try to replicate the Saturday Market in Port Vendres, France. There were booths for a silent auction with many great items, a wine garden with French Wines, a student booth, and the ever-popular marche aux puces (flea market). If you missed us join us next year on April 15, 2023.

On a sad note, former Mayor Jean Romero and his wife Michele were in a horrible accident on a skiing vacation in Grenoble. They were both hit from behind by a snowmobile and suffered extensive injuries. Mayor Romero “escaped” with broken ribs and contusions and Michele Romero was not as lucky. She endured several injuries to her face, eye, cheekbone, and shin. Her injuries required several surgeries required several surgeries with more on the horizon. She has been moved from the hospital to a rehabilitation facility and is still unable to eat solid foods. All of us in Sister Cities Yorktown are hoping for a successful recovery.
Soiree en Blanc- This year’s Soiree en Blanc will be held on October 5, 2022. This is an event that is held in Paris each year and other locations around the world. Everyone dresses in white and brings a meal. The location is not released until the week before, but we can say it will be in the greater Yorktown area. More information on that event will be releases as we get closer to the event.
Help Wanted – Sister Cities Yorktown is the primary non-profit for the Yorktown Wine Festival on October 1.
