Twelve students from our sister city of Port-Vendres, France, will visit York County from Oct. 17-22. These same students hosted a group of York County students in France in March. While in the U.S., the French students will stay with host families, march in the Yorktown Day parade, attend classes at York County high schools and experience other events and traditions.

Sister Cities Yorktown members are invited and encouraged to welcome them! A picnic in their honor will be held at the Yorktown American Revolution Museum at noon on Oct. 19, following the parade. It is potluck, so we ask everyone to bring a dish. Katherine Carter, a York County French teacher, is coordinating a sign-up sheet for food, so please RSVP by emailing her at Let me know what you will bring.

Of course, members also are welcome to join the students at 9:30 a.m. to march in the parade, or cheer on the students along the route.

Let’s show our patriotic spirit and hospitality!
