Follow the sounds of French street music to Riverwalk Landing for an authentic French Market sponsored by Sister Cities Yorktown. The event begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m., and is the first Yorktown market of the 2016 season.

More than 30 vendors will offer fresh flowers and herbs, delicate meringue sandwich cookies (macarons) taking Paris by storm, fresh produce, bread, fashions, and specialty food. All this, as DJ Ron Herrick plays timeless French music throughout the day.

The event, in its fifth year, is sponsored by Sister Cities Yorktown, which has enjoyed a relationship with Port-Vendres, France, since 1990. The market is meant to emulate the weekly village market in Port-Vendres.

Back by popular demand is the “marché aux puce,” a flea market distinguished by member donations of French linens, pottery, art, French art books, travel books, and cookbooks. Also, don’t miss the silent auction, featuring, among other items, game tickets to one regular season Redskins game; tickets to the Virginia Tech-Liberty University football game, multiple golf and B&B packages, reserved seats at Waterside Grill for July 4 fireworks, collectible wine, and gift baskets galore.

Additionally, Sister Cities Yorktown members will staff a French Wine Garden for refreshment. This booth area requires a ticket purchase.

Event proceeds support activities of Sister Cities Yorktown, which include student exchanges and citizen exchanges.
