Shirley Estes and Randy Colker, along with Mario and Connie Buffa, hosted the guests in their homes. Many members welcomed them at receptions and dinners and accompanied them on visits to Monticello in Charlottesville, the Virginia Air & Space Museum in Hampton, and other sites. Our guests were recognized at opening ceremonies for the famed Lafayette replica ship and treated to a tour on board.
At the closing dinner and ceremonies, gifts were exchanged and tears shed over a remarkable week with new and dear friends. Georges Grau was presented with the Quintilla Prize for his efforts to raise the profile of the jumelage in Port-Vendres and for moving the relationship forward into the future. He is the fifth recipient of the coveted prize, named in honor of Simone and Antoinette Quintilla, who did much to found the relationship in 1990.
